FAQs About the Donate Life Transplant Games

Who can be an athlete?

Any transplant recipient who has been post-transplant for at least nine months may participate in the Games. This includes allogenic bone marrow/stem cell recipients, tissue recipients, and cornea recipients. Living Donors may compete in select events as well. This is in addition to the 5K Race, which is open to everyone!

What events are held at the Games?

Badminton, Basketball, Ballroom Dancing, Bowling, Cycling, Cornhole, Darts, Golf, Racquetball, 5K race (open to the public), Swimming, Table tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Texas Hold Em, Trivia, and Volleyball. There are multiple age categories for each sport.

Do I have to be a superstar, amazing athlete?

Of course not! People of all different skill levels attend the games. The real meaning behind the Games is to show that organ transplantation works, and that people with transplants lead healthy, active lives. There are athletic and non-athletic competition events - there is something for everyone!

How much does it cost to attend the Games?

Registration information will be provided as the 2018 Games get closer.

What activities are offered for Donor families?

An inspiring donor family program will pay tribute to donors and their families. Workshops and other activities will also be available for donors families.

I am a Living Donor. Can I attend the Games?

Living donors are definitely welcome at the Transplant Games! There is a separate category for living donors to compete in athletic and non-athletic events. Additionally, there will be a program to honor living donors, open to all who attend.

Does Team Liberty have a max number of members?

Not at all! We are always trying to expand our team. Our goal is to bring at least 100 members of Team Liberty to the 2018 Donate Life Transplant Games in Salt Lake City, Utah. If you are not yet a member of Team Liberty, visit the Join Team Liberty page for more information!
